About Die Boord SRA
A Special Rating Area is a defined geographical area where property owners agree to pay an additional rate to fund improvements in public safety, maintenance, and related services, used solely in that area.
How an SRA works
Owner-funded, owner-governed, and spent only where you live.
Non-profit company
A public-private partnership established by property owners in the area.

Directors elected from owners who live and invest in Die Boord.
Funded by additional rates
A rate in the rand under the Municipal Property Rates Act (Act 6 of 2004), not a flat fee.
Dedicated to Die Boord
Services and funds stay in the neighbourhood. They are not shared elsewhere.
Why Die Boord is standalone in 2026
The two areas’ security needs and affordability differ. Die Boord’s main concern related to affordability. BDKW covers Brandwacht, Dalsig, Krigeville, Welgelegen.
60%+ community support already achieved; support was never the problem.
Same result needed again; the community has already shown its support.
One large, combined area with two different sets of needs and means.
Two focused, separately priced and sized SRAs, each matched to its own area.
Exact documentation required at submission was unclear.
Regular meetings with the Municipality to stay on track, with a granted 30-day extension.
In September 2025, over 920 property owners voted in support of the previous combined proposal, exceeding the 60% threshold. The restart was procedural (late hard-copy forms), not a lack of support. We vote again on the new Die Boord business and security plan.
